Travelling By Car
There are two highways that will take you to Margaret River, The Coast Road and the South Western Highway, or inland route. The Coast Road is the most popular route and heads south from Perth via the Kwinana Freeway and it is part of the major national route known as Highway 1.
Mandurah is the first major town you will see however, you can bypass the town by staying on The Coast Road, or follow the signs right that take you to the town centre.
The highway south is generally a divided two-lane road, but there is one section that remains a single-lane two-way road just south of Mandurah and needs to be treated with respect. If you are traveling in the early hours of the morning or at dusk please be careful of Kangaroos crossing the roads.
The next major town is Bunbury, which is the capital city of the South West. Stick to the bypass road if you do not wish to visit the town centre. It takes about two hours to reach Bunbury from Perth. After Bunbury is Busselton, about half an hour away and again there is a bypass around Busselton which will take you to Bussell Highway and then onto Margaret River.
The South Western Highway heads south from Armadale and is known as Highway 20. It is suggested that you stick to The Coast Road unless you want to do some sightseeing.
Once you arrive in Margaret River, head west towards the coast along Wallcliffe Road to Prevelly Park. Surfers Point is located in Prevelly Park.
