The music component will kick off after the Women's Final on Saturday March 20 headlined by Perth rockers Gyroscope. Following the massive response from "Live Without You", which has been on Triple J high rotation over the summer, their latest single "Some Of The Places I Know" is currently being featured on airwaves around the country. Both singles are from their highly anticipated forthcoming album "Cohesion", produced by Gil Norton (Pixies, Foo Fighters, Maximo Park), due out in April. The lads have a busy year ahead, playing multiple festivals and releasing the new album, sure to be received with open arms by their massive and loyal fan base. Joining them will be progressive rockers Cog, whose debut album "The New Normal" became an Australian rock sensation hitting number one on the Australian Independent Recordings (AIR) chart. Their follow up album "Sharing Space" proved even more successful than its predecessor by reaching number two on the Australian albums chart spawning the top 50 hit "What If". They will feature alongside prominent Melbourne-based rock group Eddy Current Suppression Ring who recorded their sophomore album "Primary Colours" over one weekend. The album sold over 2,000 copies within 3 weeks and saw the band win the Australian Music Prize. Their third album "Rush To Relax" was recorded in just six hours and features the catchy single "Anxiety" along with many other corkers. Psychadelic Perth boys Tame Impala have a busy year ahead of them, rumoured to be on the line up of some of the biggest international festivals of 2010. Their unique melodic sound will get both bodies and minds moving. Joining them are Sydney faves Philadelphia Grand Jury who combine garage rock with shouts, handclaps, riffs and rhythms that bring an undeniably infectious energy. With a reputation of living up to media hype they are sure to deliver one interesting show. One talented local band will kick it all off at Nippers Oval, Gloucester Park. Check out the competing talent at Settlers Tavern on Wednesday March 17. Local bands will need to apply by emailing their details including Band Name, Band Members, Band Bio, Band Website and a song sample (no bigger than 6MB) to bruna@sunsetevents.com.au
